Why Study?

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15 AMPC).

Studying the Word of God is very important so we can have our roots deep in The Word of God. When our roots are deep in The Word of God, or when our foundations are strong, we become like that man who built his house on a rock and, when the storms came, the house remained unshaken because of its strong foundation. No storm of life will shake us if we have a strong Word foundation.

Studying is also good because it makes us sound and solid in The Word of God. Our understanding of the Word is deepened and we become sound teachers of The Word of God in turn. A teacher of God's Word who is not sound in The Word is dangerous to the Body of Christ, and to themselves.

Studying also makes us sound students of The Word of God who will not be tossed to and fro by "winds of doctrine". There are so many winds of doctrine nowadays, and only those sound in The Word of God will not be deceived!

Studying sharpens us and makes us skillful teachers who rightfully divide the Word of Truth.

Studying the Word of God builds and nourishes our inner man (spirit man). As much as our physical bodies need food, our spirits need the spiritual nourishment from The Word of God!
